To achieve the excellence we strive for, the guidance, input, and opinion of the entire project team (which also includes the end users, owners, project managers, and consultants) is essential in developing the appropriate structural systems for a particular mandate.

Our TEAM design philosophy allows the FORM of the structural solutions to meet the FUNCTIONAL needs of the building systems while producing a construction project that is successful in all aspects. We firmly believe that this approach is the only way to achieve structural solutions that provide safe, cost-effective, and durable buildings that serve the needs of the users while maintaining the architectural vision.
Design engineers, building specialists, project leads, and the construction services staff are called upon regularly to provide input into material and construction procedure specifications. Their expertise is highly beneficial in developing efficient and durable structures.
SOLUTION EVALUATION
CJE (now BPA) focuses on efficiently evaluating multiple structural solutions for our project partners.
Be it a brand-new build, major renovation or addition, a rehabilitation or building condition assessment, project scopes are all evaluated for client needs, budget, and schedule. These factors are critical in ensuring that our teams align their investigation and solution methodologies with the values of our project partners.
The suitability of multiple methodologies is considered at the beginning of each project, and emerging/new methodologies and technologies are reviewed as possible ways of increasing the efficiency of the investigation, design, and construction processes. These are continually evaluated throughout a project and adjusted as required to ensure alignment with evolving project goals.
BUILDING INFORMATION MODELLING (BIM)
To stay current and meet the needs of an ever-changing construction industry, the firm has fully integrated BIM project methodologies into their project delivery processes. This integration has further enhanced the firm’s ability to provide our TEAM approach on our projects. As part of this process, the firm uses REVIT to not just “generate drawings”, but as a parametric modelling tool. This process has improved CJE’s (now BPA) ability to work with other project team members by allowing for easier discipline coordination, a better understanding of design intent and challenges (through interference verification and 3-D visualization), and when used by the constructor, a project model that can be updated in real time to reflect site conditions.
CONSTRUCTION SERVICES & PROJECT RESPONSE TIME
As the design is only as good as its implementation, a high level of field representation during the construction stages is a core value of the firm. CJE (now BPA) never compromises on this component of our services.
The firm’s focus during construction activities is on being proactive, not reactive. Working with contractors and consultants cooperatively to ensure schedules and budgets are met is part of our core values during this stage. The entire CJE (now BPA) team will always provide immediate responses when called upon. Our commitment to this critical stage is unparalleled.
