Our Areas of Structural and Building Science Expertise
Since 1993, CJE (now BPA) has completed thousands of projects in Ottawa, Toronto, across Canada, and overseas, on a wide range of private and publicly owned facilities, with construction values exceeding $200 million.
These projects have involved new construction, repair and/or restoration, vertical and horizontal expansions, seismic retrofit, renovations/retrofit of heritage sensitive buildings, structural studies of building system capacities and lifecycles, as well as, building envelope study and repairs. We’ve also provided component design services for construction projects including seismic restraints, ceiling supports, mechanical supports, wind bearing stud walls, solar panels, and civil structural works.
Indoors, outdoors, or in the dark, our team is also trained to carry out investigations anywhere you need us to be – performing Building Science services at the highest heights or most confined spaces safely and professionally.

While we have grown to be the biggest independently owned structural engineering firm in Ottawa, our core values remain the same. The strength of CJE (now BPA) has always been our diverse team – from those just beginning their careers to those with more than 25 years of experience, our wealth of knowledge, advanced designs and innovative thinking are what sets us apart.
CJE (now BPA) has over 55 staff members including Professional Engineers, certified Engineering Technologists, and CAD/BIM Modelers using the latest structural engineering analysis and design software, CAD programs, Autodesk’s REVIT, and BIM 360 to continuously stay on top of our evolving industry.
