Longevity and Loyalty, a 40-Year Celebration
The dictionary would define longevity as being permanence or durability, however, it should also be defined by commitment, dedication, and perseverance. These traits are exemplified by Cleland Jardine Engineering Limited’s Senior Partner & Director of Special Projects, André Marcoux, P.Eng., ing., PMP.
Starting his career in May 1979 as a Plans Examiner for the City of Gloucester (now part of the amalgamated city of Ottawa) reviewing building plan permit applications, he found a passion for the construction and engineering industry. This experience inspired André to expand his knowledge and skill base and complete his B.Eng., in Civil Engineering in 1987. Going back into the consulting industry, his dedication to his craft allowed him to further enhance his skills through completing his P.Eng., in 1989, a Project Management Gold Seal Certification in 1995, his Québec Engineers’ designation, ing., in 1998, and his PMP designation from the Project Management Institute in 2007.
In 1997, André’s long-time friendship with founding Team Members Mike Cleland and Bob Jardine became further solidified as he joined CJE as a Partner and a key individual who would help to shape and guide the firm on its journey from a Team of 4 to its current size of 55 with offices in both Ottawa & Toronto. His extensive experience as a Design & Field Engineer, combined with his Project Management training has not only helped the firm to meet client expectations and deliver projects in timely and cost effective manner, but more importantly, his dedication to his craft has provided exemplary leadership and guidance in the growth and development of both CJE’s younger and its more experienced staff. He prides himself on balancing the practical with the theoretical, and helping others see all sides of an engineering challenge when developing effective design solutions.
As a father of 3, André’s passion for his work is only outshined by his love for his family…and fishing. An avid member and founder of the CJE Fishing Club, you will find him at every outdoor event the company hosts. Whether it is with his line in the water, helping cook lobster at CJE’s Annual Lobsterfest, or being the one person tending to the large campfire to ensure everyone stays warm, you will always see André with a smile on his face and a willingness to share a friendly piece of patient and insightful advice.
This year we celebrate with André Marcoux, a person who defines longevity. A toast to Forty years of Family, Friendship, Fieldwork, and of course, Fishing.
