Special Projects, Special Projects - Seismic Restraints

New and renovated suspended T-Bar ceilings are subject to seismic requirements outlined within section of the Ontario Building Code and the recommended guidelines of the Ceilings & Interior Systems Construction Association. Within the Franklin Empire building located at 140 Hearst Way, Cleland Jardien Engineering Ltd was retained to design the required seismic restraint system for the suspended T-Bar ceiling installed throughout the ground floor and second floor office area. The restraint system used on this project included cold formed steel studs as compression posts with four 45 degree splay wires and ACM7 Seismic clips around the perimeter to create the attached and unattached connections.
