Project Case Studies
Incendiary smoke and heat devices are employed in the tower to simulate actual fire conditions. This project was challenging as structural materials were detailed specifically to withstand temperature effects produced during training exercises.
The 14,000 ft2 facility for the City of Ottawa houses a high-bay truck facility, mechanical mezzanines, as well as living and office areas. Long span steel trusses were utilized to provide a column free area in the high-bay truck facility. The complexity of the multi-level curved steel roof offered numerous engineering and detailing challenges that were overcome with innovative solutions that were developed with the architect and other project team members.
