Project Case Studies

  • Canadian Police Information Centre Expansion

    Ottawa, Ontario

The project involved the expansion of the existing CIPC facility at the RCMP National Headquarters Complex in Ottawa. Cleland Jardine Engineering Ltd. provided conceptual design, preparation of design–build proposal documents and supervisory service throughout the construction process on behalf of PWGSC and the RCMP.

  • RCMP Administration Building

    Ottawa, Ontario

This 18,120 ft2, multi-purpose building is designed for LEED® Gold Certification, with a green roof, geothermal energy, maximization of natural light and ventilation, water conservation and use of recycled materials.

  • South Urban Fire Station

    Ottawa, Ontario

The 14,000 ft2 facility for the City of Ottawa houses a high-bay truck facility, mechanical mezzanines, as well as living and office areas. Long span steel trusses were utilized to provide a column free area in the high-bay truck facility. The complexity of the multi-level curved steel roof offered numerous engineering and detailing challenges that were overcome with innovative solutions that were developed with the architect and other project team members.

  • Gloucester Fire Hall and Training Facility

    Ottawa, Ontario

Incendiary smoke and heat devices are employed in the tower to simulate actual fire conditions. This project was challenging, as structural materials were detailed specifically to withstand temperature effects produced during training exercises.

  • Perth Police and Fire Services Facility Expansion

    Perth, Ontario

The project involved the development of a central command dispatch facility for both fire and police services. The project consisted of conversion of the existing industrial building into a combined police and fire services facility. New mezzanines, detention areas, secure storage and apparatus bays were added. The existing structure was completely maintained with new mezzanines and service doors added. The exterior envelope was enhanced for energy efficiency.
