Project Spotlight:  Hawkesbury & District General Hospital Redevelopment Project

Construction continues on the Expansion of the Hawkesbury Hospital Project.  Scheduled for completion in September of 2019 the Build and Finance project through Infrastructure Ontario will provide new and much needed health services to the population of Prescott, Russell, and Glengarry Counties of Eastern Ontario.

Valued at over $125,000,000 the new redevelopment project will provide new acute care inpatient beds, a new ambulatory care centre, an expanded continuing care unit, a new perioperative department, emergency services, new operating rooms, diagnostic services, and additional in-patient care areas.  The new and renovated areas will continue the HGH’s mission “to promote health and provide compassionate care for our communities through the cycle of life”.

The project includes the construction of new horizontal additions totally over 62,000ft2, as well as, the renovation of the majority of the existing 2-storey hospital buildings.  Modelled with REVIT the entire project was done utilizing BIM to coordinate the design and construction activities in order to minimize interference issues and the possibility of schedule delays.  CJE Team members Sarah Howard and Brian Johnson worked closely with Michele Dredge and her team of Architects from Erskine Dredge Architects, WSP’s mechanical and electrical engineers, and members of the HGH’s management team to turn this project from a vision to a reality.  A reality that Bondfield Construction continues to build so that Eastern Ontario healthcare can rimg_4314each new levels.
