Located in the west-end, Ottawa’s Bayshore Shopping Centre underwent a significant renovation and addition project, beginning in May 2012. The project, which was completed in three phases in order to minimize impact on mall operations, included additional retail space, new parking structures, and the relocation and/or renovation of a number of existing stores and services.
Cleland Jardine Engineering Ltd (CJE) worked with a variety of architects and contractors, each responsible for different elements of the renovation and fit-up project. Our team provided seismic design and review of architectural components including bulkheads, ceilings, store fronts and security grills in a number of retails locations. In addition, CJE designed and certified lateral bracing and seismic restraints for various exhaust hoods and store front components within a number of kiosks in the newly relocated food court.
Now complete, the new and improved Bayshore Shopping Centre house more than 165 retailers, boasts a five-level parking structure and an additional 300,000 square feet of retail space and is visited by over 7 million shoppers each year.
