    EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS

    • Completed an undergraduate Engineering or Applied Science degree in Structural (Civil) Engineering.

    EXPERIENCE

    • This is a full time position within our Special Projects department for a candidate with a minimum of 1 year of related experience in the field of structural engineering.
    • Ability to register and attain licensed engineer status under the terms and conditions of the professional Engineers of Ontario (PEO).
    • Possesses the ability to carry out structural designs and analysis of various types of building systems and materials, including wood, steel and concrete, in accordance with the applicable building codes and standards.
    • Possess a balance of technical and strong verbal and written communication skills.
    • Ability to read and interpret design drawings and sketches.
    • Ability to work within deadlines and possesses a strong commitment to professional and customer service excellence.

    JOB DESCRIPTION

    • Perform site reviews, gather data and prepare reports, drawings and specifications under direction of the Lead Project Engineer.
    • Perform investigations required to diagnose specific problems and recommend solutions.
    • Perform analysis and design of structural elements of a variety of materials including: concrete, steel, masonry, light-gage metal, wood, and pre-cast in accordance with the latest codes and standards.
    • Work in cooperation with CAD operators, utilizing drafting software, to develop accurate project structural drawings and sketches.
    • Attendance at regular Departmental and Project Meetings with Senior Staff and Managers.
    • Perform on-site field reviews of construction/renovation/rehabilitation projects to assess constructed element conformance and the preparation of any associated field review reports and contract administration documents.
    • Regularly review all material and building codes and standards (including all updates) to ensure accuracy of structural designs and analysis techniques and requirements.

    • Is a licensed professional engineer under the terms and conditions of the Professional Engineers of Ontario (PEO)
    • The engineer requires proven expertise in working independently, dealing directly with clients, engineering/certifying projects and working with junior staff to assist on projects.
    • Proficient in using structural analysis software including but not limited to; S-Frame, Etabs, S-Concrete, Woodworks, SP Slab, etc.
    • Possess a balance of technical and excellent verbal and written communication skills.
    • Adept at making observations and identifying problems.
    • Ability to manage multiple priorities.

    • Assist junior staff with projects assigned by the Department Manager.
    • Attendance at regular Departmental and Project Meetings with Senior Staff and Managers.
    • Perform on-site field reviews of construction/renovation/rehabilitation projects to assess constructed element conformance and the preparation of any associated field review reports and contract administration documents.
    • Regularly review all material and building codes and standards (including all updates) to ensure accuracy of structural designs and analysis techniques and requirements.
    • Carries out technical tasks requiring accuracy in calculations, completeness of data, and adherence to established codes and standards and specifications.
  • Building Science
    Our Building Science Department provides engineering services related to the investigation and restoration of existing buildings and structures.
  • New Construction
    Our New Construction team is involved in all aspects of a project – from initial concept design to detailed design, through to construction completion.
